Rental settings

After defining rental categories and creating rental inventory in setting up the Rental module, you now set rental rate parameters.
The rental rate settings for the Rental module can be found via the following menu path:

Setup Tools > Setup Wizard > Rental Settings, as shown in Figure 1.

How Tos

First you set parameters in the following sections so you have these available to the individual inventory item records:

• Rentals - specify business hours, rolling rental type, use of price schedules.
• Time periods - structure one or more of these time periods; hourly, half day, full day, weekly and monthly.
• Time period coverage - once time periods are set, check for overlapping or missing time periods.
• Rules - set rules and specify calculations for rate types and associate rate types to inventory sub-categories.
• Printing Options - set options for configuring line comments for rental items.
• Surcharge Setup - Specify additional charges as a percentage of rental items on an invoice.
• Check Lists - Enables addtional rental states (Available, unavailable) for Rental unit items along with optional checklists that must be completed prior to the rental unit becoming available for rental again

Then you set prices for rental inventory in the Rental Rates tab for each rental item (Inventory and Purchases> Edit Item and select inventory item).
