After defining rental categories, the second task in setting up the Rental module is creating rental inventory. Rental items are created similarly to regular inventory items using the following Navigator menu path: Inventory> Purchases> Inventory> New Item.
Ensure that you select a rental category for a rental item otherwise the rental information does not appear. Additionally, you can create serialized rental inventory or rental kits.
Set the cost of the item as normal. The price is the price of the item if sold, not the price you wish to rent at. Rental prices are entered separately. The rental rates must be setup before they appear for selection on the Inventory Details window - Rental Rates tab. The next task therefore is setting rental rates and time periods. As the last setup step, see the Rental Rates tab for information about associating rental rates with rental inventory items.
