Find Location window

Topic Overview

The Find Location window allows you to look up warehouse or store locations (setup in Inventory > Multi-Location Maintenance ) so you can associate one or more locations for stocking an inventory item at or to assign a special purpose to a location. Selected rows appear in bold black text with a yellow background.

Access

To access the Find Location window shown in Figure 1, use the following Navigator menu path:

Inventory and Purchases> Inventory > Add or Edit Item and in the Inventory Details window - Locations tab, click [New].

OR

Setup Tools> Setup Wizard> Advanced Inventory Control> Special Purpose Locations and in the Special Purpose Location window, click either ellipse [...] button.

OR

Inventory and Purchases> Physical Inventory Count and in the scan batch file in the Data Collector sub-tab, click the Location Context [...]

Window parts

The window is described following three sections:

Button

[Ok]

If a location is selected in the list, then clicking the button selects that location in either the Special Purpose Location window or in the Physical Inventory Count window - Scan Batch Data Collector sub-tab. You can select multiple locations when you access this window from the Inventory Details window - Locations tab. The Find Location window closes automatically. If there is no location selected, then the Find Location window closes.

[Cancel]

Click the button to close the Find Location window.

[Recent]

Click the button to display up to the last 50 location records that were most recently added to the database. If there are less than 50 records, then all of the records are listed.

[Edit]

This button is similar to the [Ok] button, except that the Find Location window does not close automatically. This option is not available when opened from the Special Purpose Location window.

[New]

Click the button to creates a new location record and open the Location Details window ready for the input of the new location information and settings. This option is not available when opened from the Special Purpose Location window.

[Delete]

Click the button to delete the location record that is currently selected in the list. The Delete operation only deletes the record if it has no assigned special purpose or not associated with any inventory part.

[Clear]

Click the button to clear any selection and close the Find Location window.

[Print]

Click the button to print the current listing of location records.

Enter part or all of the search criteria in the Location, Unique, Comment, and Part Number text boxes to narrow the location search as desired. Additionally, you can filter by entering either a Y (yes) or N (no) value in the Quarantined, Requires Picking or Marked Deleted text boxes.

If the Live Search check box is checked (default), locations meeting the search criteria appear in the Location list dynamically. If unchecked, you must press <ENTER> on your keyboard to start the search.

The filters are inclusive meaning if a value is entered in Location and Part Number, only locations that have that location code AND store that part are listed.

The results are displayed in the list as shown above. To select a location double-click on the line or select the line and click [OK]. To select multiple locations: in a group highlight the first location, hold <SHIFT> and click the last location or individually click the Key cell beside the desired locations (toggles between selected (yellow) or not), before clicking [OK].

The grid in this window is customizable. To customize the columns displayed in the grid right-click anywhere a in the grid and select the Customize command from the pop-up menu. The Grid Options dialog box appears as shown below.

To add a currently hidden column, highlight it in the Hidden column list and then click [Show Column] to add it to the preview grid.

To hide a currently viewable column, highlight it in the preview grid and then click [Hide Column] to add it to the Hidden column list. Once you have the grid the way you want it, click [OK] to accept your changes.
