The Use Departmentalized Rental Rates check box on the Rentals page, shown in Figure 1, provides the ability to be able to have different rental rates depending on the department that you are going to rent an item from.

A Department drop-down list is also made available in the Rental Rates tab for easier selection, and to only load the rates for the selected Department.
To define different rental rates in each department, see Rental Rates tab in the Inventory Details.

Ensure that you have full, current backup of your data. It is also highly recommended that you set this option up in a Training dataset and full test the functionality to ensure that it is what you want prior to enabling this option in your live dataset.
