Lookup Words

Lookup words are presented in a common interface throughout System Five. The use of the control is the same, regardless of the data entry window they are located in. However, the lookup words for inventory records are not the same as lookup words for invoices, or for suppliers versus customers. Lookup words for each module that includes them are independent and unrelated by design. The common Lookup Words Input control is shown in Figure 1.

The use and function of the Lookup Words Input control are detailed in Table 1. The Available Words and Attached Words columns display up to 20 characters in width.

Function and/or Purpose

Available Words

This is a list of the lookup words that exist in System Five. You can use any combination of these lookup words you desire. The Words can be added to the Attached Words list by double-clicking them in this list or by using the buttons described below.
Right-click on the list to display the drop down menu shown in Figure 2.

Select the menu item to either rename a lookup word or delete it from the system. Changes to the lookup words affect all records assigned to the lookup word. Renaming a lookup word in one record, renames it in all records. Deleting a lookup word from one record, deletes it from all records.

This button adds the currently highlighted word in the Available Words list to the Attached Words list.

This button will add all of the words in the Available Words list to the Attached Words list.

This button removes the currently selection word in the Attached Words list and put it back into the Available Words list.

This button removes all the words in the Attached Words list and put then back into the Available Words list.

Attached Words

This is the list of lookup words that are assigned to the current record.
Right-click on the list to display the drop down menu shown in Figure 3.

Select the menu item to either rename a lookup word or delete it from the system. Changes to the lookup words affect all records assigned to the lookup word. Renaming a lookup word in one record, renames it in all records. Deleting a lookup word from one record, deletes it from all records.

Type a new Keyword into the box to the right of this button, then click the button to add a new lookup word to the Attached Words list. The character length is 20.
