Departments
The System Five Department system allows you to operate multiple companies or Departments all under one umbrella company. This feature is an extra add on that can be purchased from System Five. The maximum number of Departments is currently 255, which can be expanded if required.
Some key points to know about how Departments work in System Five are:
- Each Department has an identical General Ledger with separate and/or combined values.
- Each Department has an identical set of inventory items, categories and sub-categories. The inventory quantities for each Department can be global (belong to all Departments and each Department can sell another Department's inventory) or they can be separate. If they are separate, you will need to transfer quantities from one Department to another to sell it in another Department.
- Customers and Suppliers are normally shared among Departments, however it is possible to have a customer or supplier belong to a specified Department.
- Clerks can be set up as to which Departments they can enter data into. Note that in areas of the program they can still see some Department information.
