Associate national with subsidiary customer records

The National Accounts option allows customers to have subsidiaries. The national account or parent company is normally invoiced and pays the invoices for its subsidiaries. The feature must be enabled in the Setup Wizard and before you can link this customer record to a single national (parent) customer record or link a number of subsidiary accounts to the current account or both. All customer records involved in a national/subsidiary relationship must be of Charge Type "Account" as set on the Financial tab.

To access customer records, use the following Navigator menu paths:

Point of Sale> Customers

OR

Accounts Receivable > Customers

Instructions

To associate a parent/national customer account to this customer record (making it a subsidiary account):

  1. In the National Accounts tab, check the This subsidiary account is financed by a parent company check box to open the Find Customer window.
  2. Find and select the national/parent customer record to associate the current customer to as a subsidiary. Once selected, the Find Customer window closes and the following selected parent record contact details are displayed in the top portion of the tab:

      Name

      Address

      City, State/Province

      ZIP/Postal, Country

      Phone

      Fax

      Account No.

  1. To view parent customer account details, click the [View] button to open the Customer Details window with the parent customer record details displayed.
  2. Click [OK] to save your settings.

AND/OR

To associate one or more subsidiary customer accounts to this customer record:

  1. Click on a blank Active cell to open the Find Customer window.
  2. Find and select the a customer record to associate to the current customer to as a subsidiary. Once selected, the Find Customer window closes and the following selected subsidiary customer record contact details are displayed in the bottom grid portion of the tab:

      Account No.

      Name

      City

      Phone

      Balance

  1. To view subsidiary customer account details, click the [Check mark] icon on the desired row to open the Customer Details window with the subsidiary customer record details displayed.
  2. To view subsidiary invoices, click [Include Subsidiaries] in the Invoices tab.
  3. To view the total balance owing for all associated subsidiary accounts, view the Total National Balance value.
  4. Click [OK] to save your settings.
  5. Click [Close] to close the window.
